Kent Beer Tasting Panel Report. July 2024

Hello Beer Tasters,

Thank you to those that attended the Meeting last night (Wed, 17th July).

Karl raised the point of setting a reminder to our Meetings via 'Google Meets'. Unfortunately, Google does not support this function. Instead, those of you with personal Calendars (mobile phone is probably the best way of doing this), can set a reminder function. The Permanent Link is always the same each month (the third Wednesday of the Month) here - https://meet.google.com/wem-gjum-wfs. Sorry I can't do this automatically.

Those that attended the meeting, and discussions with others previously. have agreed to have a 'slightly' shorter List of Beers to look out for (see below). This will help keep people us on beer scoring, especially during the Beer Festival season. There are so many opportunities coming up over summer.

.

You will see that the Mild Section is Green Coloured, this is because I would like everyone to focus especially on getting 'Milds' scored. We currently do not have enough Tasting Cards in this category to put any candidates through to CBOB. These three examples are very close and are all good contenders and I have seen them all available across Kent.

Obviously I would say do not let this constrain you in Judging other Beers and submitting your Tasting Cards but please look out for these ones.

As always, keep an eye on the Tasting Panel Calendar for upcoming events across the county and please let me know if you would like to add anything or if you are planning any Brewery Visits that others may wish to attend.

Don't forget that if you are over Thanet way to show Glen, proud Tasting Panel member, some love. He has recently taken over running Mind the Gap Micropub (a stones throw away from Broadstairs train station).

Lets get out there and get Tasting (as if you needed an excuse) and I look forwards to bumping into you at events over the summer.

Hopefully I haven't missed anything out and it will be great to see you out and about in the Kent Sunshine.

Cheers and Beers,

Jona Jewitt CAMRA Kent Tasting Panel Chair ku.gro.armac.tnek@gnitsatreeb
