Hello Tasters, We have had another very progressive month and we have 2 events on the calendar for December. However, the most important news is the tasting panel, initial training at Kings Cross in February.

Taste Panel Training
Parcel Yard, King’s Cross station, 11am Saturday 10th February. Just nine spaces available so don’t delay, get yourself booked on the course today! Costs £17 which includes the beers tasted. https://tckty.camra.org.uk/e/187/taste-traiing-for-tasting-panels The purpose of the training is to give you the skills and confidence to assess beer objectively. Common off flavours will be experienced before you taste beers in good condition. You will be guided through CAMRA’s beer styles and complete CAMRA’s tasting cards. After training we support you as you complete 12 tasting cards to become industry accredited. Remember to contact the people you know who have expressed an interest in the TP.

December Tasting Events

• Saturday 9th December, Faversham, 14.30hrs, The Elephant, Swale pub of the year 23. Jona and Mary are organising a Thanet branch social and there will be a tasting session at the Elephant.
• Wednesday 20th December, Canterbury, Live Zoom, Venue TBC. Following a great live meeting at the Tankerton Arms Glen is trying to book a venue in Canterbury. We are planning to start tasting in the afternoon. More details to follow.

WhatsApp group up and running

CBBOB training at Winchester - review
24 trainees attended and 4 were Kent TP members, so a great turn out. A lot of people were TP members and or BLOs. I sat next to the new Chair of the newly formed Mid Sussex TP. We will organise joint tastings with them in 2024. CBOB tasting is like speed dating. You have 5 minutes to decide how well each beer meets CAMRA’S beer styles against; appearance, smell, taste, aftertaste. We tasted 12 beers in 4 flights.
