There is a planning application from November 2025, F/TH/25/1030, it seeks to bring an end to the pub and install five two-bedroom flats plus a micro brewery. The ground floor micro brewery is not intended to be tap room or public house. Please consider objecting via ku.vog.tenaht@secivres.gninnalp.

This was a busy community pub which had frequent different events on.The selection of real ales included offerings from many local breweries including Shivering Sands. It had an impressive animal menagerie in the back garden - there aren't many pubs that have that.

Like the nearby Hussar, this pub was rebuilt in 1926 though the original stood 50 yards away in Welsdene Road. The new Rodney was built, as the windows indicate, by Cobbs on the site of an old barn.
